ThumbStrips Update 1.5.1

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Hello All,

We are happy to announce the latest version of ThumbStrips - 1.5.1.

What did we do?
* Made ThumbStrips Firefox 3 compliant.
Check out the latest version of Firefox 3 beta 5 here, it’s great!

* Added a simple way to add comments to your thumbnails
Just right-click and select “comment”. The comments will be saved with the thumbstrip and are searchable.

* Restored the sharing feature on the thumbstrips.com website
Go to configure - Save/Share - Share this thumbstrip on intuitlabs.com. This is a feature that we would love some more feedback on. We just threw together a way to share ThumbStrips and only a few people have used it so far

* Cleaned up some JavaScript errors.

Thank you all for all the feedback and testing that you have done for this latest release. We look forward to learning more from you in the future.

Oh where, oh where has my ThumbStrip gone…

Monday, May 5th, 2008

One of the comments we see often is “ThumbStrips should remember my last session.” The truth is that it does, but it is just hard to find (sorry about that). When you quit Firefox the most recent thumbstrip is located here:

Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\*.default\chrome\filmstrips\_ThumbStrips History from Last Browser Session.film
Mac OS X (Leopard): ./Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/*.default/chrome/filmstrips/_ThumbStrips History from Last Browser Session.film
Linux: /home/*username*/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome/filmstrips/_ThumbStrips History from Last Browser Session.film

This is the same location where your “My ThumbStrips” are saved.

We hope this helps you find your thumbstrips and we will work harder in the future to make this easier to find.

Here is some more info on where your Firefox profile information is stored for different OSs.

Thanks,
Jonathan

ThumbStrips on Linux

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

When we first developed ThumbStrips we made sure it worked on Windows and Mac machines. After releasing the first version we had users asking us if we support Linux. Since ThumbStrips is a Firefox extension, we thought the operating system that Firefox is running under shouldn’t matter, right? Well, some users confirmed that it did indeed work on Linux, but recently we’ve had some feedback that ThumbStrips was not working properly on some versions of Linux.

There have been almost 37,000 downloads on this site and over 230,000 downloads on Mozilla’s add-ons site. How many of you are running ThumbStrips on Linux? Are you experiencing any problems? We’d love to hear your feedback.

We have setup a Linux environment today to try and recreate the problems that our users are seeing and will keep you posted on our progress.

April Fool’s Day Outage (5-6PM est)

Monday, March 31st, 2008

No… this is not a joke. We will have a very brief, so brief you most likely wont even notice it, outage from 5-6 PM EST on Tuesday, April 1st. That means that both intuitlabs.com and thumbstrips.com will be unavailable.

Here’s a tip: not sure if that site you like is down or if it’s just you? Now there’s a way to tell: downforeveryoneorjustme.com
