Happy New Year - Let’s kick it off with a new version of ThumbStrips!
December 31st, 2007 – by jmandellYou asked for it and you got it! Thank you all so much for your feedback on our initial version of the visual web history tool we launched 6 months ago. We pored through the hundreds of comments and emails that we received and used that feedback to create the latest version of ThumbStrips. We even had a few of you test this latest release for us (thanks to those that volunteered).
What’s new in 1.5 (get it here)?
- You can now drag and drop your thumbnails to create your own sort order.
- Your sort order is now saved with the ThumbStrip.
- We fixed performance issues (script errors) when saving a ThumbStrip.
- Sites can be blocked from recording. You can now choose to block a particular page, an entire domain, or you can use the custom option to restrict a subsection of a site.
- The toolbar has been redesigned for both form (looks cool) and function (takes up less space and is more intuitive)
Please let us know what you love, what needs to be improved, and why. Also, we would love to know what you use ThumbStrips for so others can learn how take advantage of it, so please comment on that too!
On a side note we have entered ThumbStrips in Mozilla’s Extend Firefox 2 Contest. Wish us luck!
Thank you all and have a Happy New Year!

Hi Cosmin,
can you explain what is happening? Is it after you visit google.com? or after you click on a link from a search result?

great tool, great idea.. however could do with blocking search engine results from it also maybee more detailed options… with the possibility of adding a page cache keep up the good work

I certainly hope this concept does not self destruct because it is a great convenience.
I can’t help but think if there should not have been a way to warn the user if he has a plug-in or app already doing the same approximate job.

I use the F4 button with the All in one Sidebar extension to toggle my sidebar on/off and it is quite essential for me to be able to do that. However ThumbStrips seems to be using F4 and so the toggle doesnt work now. If necessary Ill have to uninstall ThumbStrips but I dont want to do that as it is a fine extension and I’d like to be able to use it as well. Can you tell me if I can assign a different key to ThumbStrips so that the toggle works again or have any other solution you can offer ?

vernon - currently we don’t have a configuration for the background colors but we will look into it.
hermit - I will see if we can do something to customize the short cut keys.
everyone else - thanks for the feedback and keep it coming!
